Where do you work?

What are your research interests?

I am principal investigator for the Isle of Wight and 3rd generation birth cohorts investigating natural history and genetic and environmental risk factors for allergic diseases including asthma, rhinitis and food allergy. Funded by NIAID, NHLBI (US) and Asthma+Lung UK, I have developed a programme of research to investigate genetic, epigenetic and pathogenetic features of asthma and allergic diseases, and identify novel biomarkers for predicting development of asthma. I am currently conducting one of the largest clinical trial in food allergen immunotherapy for severe milk and peanut allergy. I have carried out innovative studies to test strategies for primary prevention of childhood asthma.

What scientific achievements are you most proud of?

I am chief investigator and custodian of one of the oldest and largest birth cohort in asthma and allergy. I have also contributed to both US and European guidelines for food allergy management and primary prevention of asthma and food allergy. I have published ~350 peer reviewed papers and review articles and authored or edited 3 books and 7 book chapters.

It has increased my visibility, and I have presented my work at CIA meeting.

What is your favorite memory from a past CIA Symposium?

It was a proud moment to receive the CIA membership certificate and a little gift for the new members at the last meeting in October 2023.

What are your hobbies or what do you spend most of your free time doing?

Reading and Cycling

What is something you cannot live without?

My family.
