Very, very short Minutes of the
15th Symposium of the Collegium Internationale Allergologicum held in Puerta
Vallarta, Mexico in September 1984
GEOFFREY B. WEST
The slogan of this meeting was
a three-letter word (beginning with the letter H) called HOT, yes, hot.
The 15th symposium, organised
by Dr. Norman of Baltimore, USA, was held on the Pacific Coast of Mexico at
Puerta Vallarta. This certainly turned out to have been the most exotic setting
in CIA history. It was attended by over 130 participants and was considered by
all as very successful. It was HOT - in fact, very hot.
Scientific sessions, despite
the temptations of the beach, were well attended. This probably was the result
of the meeting room being the only air-conditioned and cool room in the whole
area. Even the traditional boat excursion was this time carried out without
incident and in the most beautiful weather. Many CIA members later completed
their athletic training by trying the daring sport of para-sailing. In short,
this Puerta Vallarta meeting will remain an excellent memory. Those who did not
attend missed the meeting of a lifetime. And they missed the HEAT!!!!
