CIA - Collegium Internationionale Allergologicum
33rd Symposium of the Collegium Internationale Allergologicum

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Council, Bruce Bochner, and I welcome you to the 33rd Symposium of the Collegium Internationale Allergologicum, entitled Allergic and immune diseases: phenotyping, prediction, prevention and participation, which will be held for the first time in Canada, in charming Montebello, Quebec, 10-15 September 2020.

From its inception in 1954, the Collegium has been a very special international group of friends pursuing research excellence across the full spectrum of allergic diseases and allied disorders, in a spirit of open intellectual exchange and debate at meetings held in interesting and stimulating locations across the world. We will be revisiting this vision, this time in historic Montebello, strategically set along the Ottawa River, bordering the provinces of Ontario and Quebec.

Through oral and poster presentations, this Symposium will highlight the significant scientific progress being made by our discipline worldwide, including some of the latest advances in allergy, asthma and immunology. With the big data revolution upon us, we will explore P4 Medicine paradigms, including deep phenotyping, predictive algorithms, preventive strategies and participatory imperatives, in understanding developmental origins of allergy, asthma and immune/inflammatory disorders. Given our access to large datasets from international longitudinal studies, as well as breakthrough advances in molecular and cell biology, genetics and genetic epidemiology, and gene-environment interactions in health and disease, CIA 2020 Montebello will provide a unique opportunity for idea and discovery sharing, hypothesis generation, and emerging trans-disciplinary collaborations.

Montebello, Quebec, and the nearby cities of Ottawa, the Capital of Canada, and Montreal, with its Old-New World fusion of languages and peoples, are where Canadian history, cultures and cuisine merge. The landscape around Montebello, its National Parks set among the ancient, rolling Laurentian and Gatineau mountains, affords vistas and promises post-meeting escapes to view the famous Canadian autumnal foliage color change. And a boat trip along the Ottawa River, past Canada’s majestic Parliament buildings and Canadian landmarks, is not to be missed! The weather in late summer in Montebello and surrounds is fair and temperate, conducive to the goals of CIA meetings.

Additional information regarding the Symposium, including registration and housing, will be available soon.

We look forward to seeing you in Montebello in 2020.

Kindest Regards,

Bruce S. Bochner, MD                     Judah Denburg MD, FRCP(C)
